Funeral services will be held today at 1:30 p.m. at St. Petri Lutheran Church in rural York for Charlotte Eunice Loken, 84, who died Tuesday, April 8, at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepard in New Rockford.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Charlotte was born November 5, 1929 in Sykeston, a daughter of Charlie & Ina (Anderson) Sundell. They lived in several small towns before settling in Esmond, where she graduated from high school. She lived in Red Wing, Minn., for a couple of years, working at Red Wing Pottery. On June 24, 1950 she married Gordon Loken in Esmond. They moved to the Loken farm near Baker, where they farmed and raised their family. She lived on the farm until December 1998. In 2000 she moved to the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepard, where she resided ever since.
She was a member of the St. Petri Lutheran Church and its Ladies Auxiliary, and a Mayo Clinic Celiac Support group.
She is survived by her children and grandchildren: Greg Loken, Cherry Valley, Ill. and grandsons David, Minneapolis, and Erik, Rockford, Ill.; Brenda Loken, Carrington; Lance Loken, Bismarck; Marsha Johnson, Grand Forks, and grandchildren, Jacob, Carly, Thomas and Zoe, Grand Forks.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brothers, Donald and Charles Sundell; sister, Janice Gronsberg; half-sister Marilyn Connolly; two infant siblings; granddaughter Marilyn Olga Loken Johnson.
