Funeral services were held Friday, April 4, 2014 at North Prairie Free Lutheran Church in rural Leeds for Richard Jorgenson, 84, Leeds, who died Sunday, March 30, at the Towner County Medical Center in Cando.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Richard was born November 30, 1929 on the family farm near Leeds, a son of George & Magnil (Medhus) Jorgenson. He attended rural school and graduated from Leeds High School in 1947. He furthered his education at NDSU and in St. Paul, Minn., where he graduated from college in 1950. He returned home and farmed with his father. On Nov. 25, 1967 he married Lois Carlson in Kenmare. On July 30, 1997 he married Darlene Schapp in Jamestown.
He was a member of the North Prairie Free Lutheran Church, the Farmers Coop Elevator and Leeds Township boards.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene, Cando; daughter, Janel McGarvey, Leeds; son, Eric, Leeds; seven grandchildren; sisters, Betty Thoreson, Mayville; Inez Jacobson, Rochester, Minn.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois; parents; sisters, Ardis Oppegard and Ione Jorgenson.
Pastor Michael Rohrer officiated. Music was provided by Reg and DeWayne Herman, vocalist Shaun Prince and pianist Laurie Morstad.
Casketbearers were Mark Ahlberg, John Sogge, Greg Anderson, Duane Pieler, Steven Thoreson and Jon Thoreson.
