Burial was held Monday, March 17, 2014 at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Wash. for Maynard Joseph Anderson, 85, who died March 10 at the Washington State Soldiers Home in Orting, Wash.

Maynard was born August 9, 1928 in Rugby, a son of Joseph & Minnie Anderson. His family was among the earliest settlers of Dakota Territory. He was raised on the family farm before joining the U.S. Navy, eventually retiring from the U.S. Air Force after over 20 years of active military service. He also practiced real estate in Pierce County, Washington for several decades.

He is survived by his sons, Joseph, Jacksonville, Fla.; James, Tacoma, Wash.; stepson, Robert Humphries, Puyallup, Wash.; stepdaughter, Nell Williams, Gaston, S.C.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Ralph Anderson; sister, Marion Halvorson, Rugby.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae; son, John; daughte
