Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 25, 2014 at the Nelson Funeral Home in Leeds for Lois B. Barnes, 92, Devils Lake, formerly of Leeds, who died Friday, March 7 at the Good Samaritan Center in Devils Lake.

Burial will be in the St. Petri Lutheran Cemetery in rural York.

Lois was born on June 8, 1921 on the family farm in Beaver Township near York, a daughter of K.B. & Elvira (Trandum) Sandven. She graduated from Leeds High School in 1939, and attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn. For many years, she worked for the Department of Interior in Washington, D.C. She later returned to Leeds, and she was employed by the Social Security Administration in Devils Lake until her retirement. In 2003 she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center.

She was a lifelong member of the St. Petri Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her sisters, Eunice Sandven, Leeds; Rebecca Hanson, Brainerd, Minn.; sister-in-law, Dorothy Sandven, Eden Prairie, Minn.; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Olger, Kenneth and Roger; sister, Signe O’Keefe.

Pastor Richard Budd will officiate.
