Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Harvey for Leah Gumeringer, 79, Esmond, who died Thursday, Jan. 30 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Leah was born December 29, 1934 in Selz, a daughter of Anton & Mary (Volk) Gisi. She was raised on the family farm near Selz. She attended school in Selz and graduated from high school in 1952 from the St. James Academy in New Rockford. On June 14, 1954 she married Edmund J. Gumeringer at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Selz. Together they raised their four children on the family farm near Esmond. For 37 years she worked as a nurse in Harvey, Rugby and New Rockford.
She was a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Harvey.
She is survived by her husband, Edmund, Esmond; son, Ron Gumeringer, Bismarck; daughters, Kathy Gumeringer, Esmond; JoAnn Gurard, Bismarck; Jackie Subart, Highlands Ranch, Colo.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Leon, Harvey; John, Phoenix, Ariz.; sisters, JoAnn Trom, Grand Rapids, Minn.; Margaret Willard, Barnsville, Minn.; Rita Doering, Minot; Mary Jane Lueck, Lidgerwood.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Marvin and Jim Gisi.
