Carl David Hochstetler was born April 15, 1931, on a farm near Wolford, ND to Eli and Edna Hochstetler. He died January 3, 2014. Carl attended a country school through 8th grade and he worked on the family farm. He married Evelyn Yoder in 1952, who preceded him in death in May 1982; they had 9 children. Carl was a member of Lakeview Mennonite Church, Wolford, ND, where he was a song leader and Sunday School teacher for many years, and in 2009 became a member of Bethel Mennonite Church, Sarasota, FL. He was also the treasurer for North Central Conference for 27 years. Carl farmed until 1985 when he moved to Florida and worked at Mullets Appliance until he retired in 2004. He continued working as a handy man until he was 81 years old.
Carl met and married Dianna Gingerich in June, 1988. They celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in June 2013. They enjoyed many summers traveling through the states visiting their children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Dianna and 9 children: Eileen Crossgrove (Larry) Greenwood, DE; Les (Gayle), Ogema, MN; Wes (Linda), Shickley, NE; Amy Newton (Randy), Colorado Springs, CO; Alice Hill (Kevin), Loveland, CO; Tom (Sharla), Pueblo, CO; Tim (Becky), Strang, NE; Todd (Karissa), Arthur, ND; Renita Boesiger (Tom), Loveland, CO. 29 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren and sister, Dora Belle Bacher. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn, 1 sister and 4 brothers: Rhoda Bacher, Melvin Hochstetler, Perry Hochstetler, Emery Hochstetler, and Vernon Hochstetler.
Memorial services were held January 8, 2014 at Bethel Mennonite Church in Sarasota, FL.
