Kathryn Boechler
A mass of Christian burial was held Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Karlsruhe for Kathryn Mary Boechler, 86, who died Oct. 6, 2013 in Minot.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Kathryn was born August 14, 1927 at a family farm near Orrin, a daughter of John & Rose (Selzer) Salwey. She graduated from Rugby High School, attended Minot State Teachers College, and became a teacher in rural Karlsruhe. On June 22, 1948, she married Emanuel Boechler in Orrin. They farmed near Balfour before purchasing land northeast of Karlsruhe. In 1972 she became the Postmaster of Karlsruhe, and she worked in that position until retiring in 1992. In 1995 she spent most of her time in Arizona.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and its Christian Mothers, and the VFW Women’s Auxiliary.
She is survived by sons, Edward, Marietta, Ga.; Greg, Denver, Colo; Germain, Karlsruhe; Jerome, Overland Park, Kan.; James, Mesa, Ariz.; John, Phoenix, Ariz.; daughters, Patricia Jensen, Karlsruhe; Brenda Zietz, Minot; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; brother, Edward Salwey, Max; sisters, Rose Voeller, Rugby; Carolyn Fritel, Stanley; Delores Schaan, Minot; Frances Fettig, Minot; and Betty Mae Zacher, Balta.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brothers, John, Jack, Joseph, Michael, Sylvester and Benedict Salwey.
Father Peter Sharpe and Monsignor Joseph Senger were celebrants. Music was provided by Teresa Mosser-Boehm, organist, and the church choir.
Casket bearers were Chris Zietz and Kathryn’s sons. Honorary bearers were her family and friends.
