Leota Dalthorp

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, Sept. 13, 2013 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Grand Forks for Leota Joan Dalthorp, 81, Grand Forks, who died Sept. 10 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.
Burial was at Calvary Cemetery South in Grand Forks.
Leota was born Aug. 1, 1932 in Rugby, a daughter of Joseph & Josephine (Volk) Bickler. She attended school in Rugby, graduating from high school in 1950, and graduated from college with a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Minot State Teachers College. On Nov. 18, 1961 she married Chuck Dalthorp at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Minot. She taught at schools in Velva, Fargo and Minot, and worked at Dayton’s Department Store until she retired in 1997.
She is survived by her husband; children, Carl and Charles, Grand Forks; Joan Jensen, Grand Forks; Paul Dalthorp, Minneapolis, Minn.; seven grandchildren; brother, Melvin Bickler, Rugby; sisters, Phyllis Hoffman, Placerville, Calif.; Dolores Sullivan, Albuquerque, N.M.; Donna Smith, Hamburg, N.J.; Charlotte Blessum, Rugby.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Father Gerard Baum officiated. Music was provided by Mike Moe and organist Jesse Zyskowski.
