Irene Rosenau

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013 at Niewoehner Funeral Home in Rugby for Irene Maria Bean Rosenau, 89, Minot, who died Saturday, Oct. 5 at Manor Care Home in Minot.

Burial was in Shook Cemetery in rural Glenburn.

Irene was born June 16, 1924 in Martin, a daughter of Eduard & Theresa (Buchholz) Erdmann. She attended school in Voltaire, Velva and Sawyer. She helped at the family home until moving to Minot. She worked at the American Cafe on Main Street in Minot for several years. She married Clarence Orville Bean on the Bean homestead in Van Buren Township on March 22, 1945. Then they moved to Martin, where they operated the “52 Bar”. After Mr. Bean’s death on March 7, 1956 she moved to Glenburn until 1970, when she moved back to Minot to work in the dietary department at St. Joseph’s Hospital. On March 28, 1994 she married Lorenz Walter Rosenau in Willow City. Lorenz died on October 8, 2009. She moved to Lansford to live with her daughter, and in 2011 she moved to the ManorCare Home in Minot.

She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Willow City.

She is survived by her children: Edward Bean, Fargo; Gloria Malaterre, Belcourt; Orville Bean, Moorhead, Minn.; Arthur Bean, Des Moines, Iowa; Mary Jordan, Denver, Colo.; Betty Gallagher, Apple Valley, Minn.; Linda Koetter, Lansford; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; sister, Lydia Laboy, Plymouth, Wisc.; brother, Raymond Erdmann, Janesville, Wisc.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; two brothers and three sisters.

Rev. Phillip Hanneman and Edward J. Bean officiated. Music was provided by Dianne Montonye, organist.

Pallbearers were Jerry, Robert, Todd, Traci and Troy Bean, Georgette Bradley, Denise Davis, Clarence and David Gallagher,
