Donelda Rogers
Funeral services were held Friday, September 6, 2013 at the Blunt Mortuary in Colorado Springs, Colorado for Donelda Joyce (Cruden) Rogers, who died August 30, 2013.
Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery in Colorado Springs.
Donelda, or “Donna”, was born on May 15, 1931 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Rugby, a daughter of Mazie & Pam Cruden Jr. She grew up on a farm, helping her dad outdoors and living half a mile away from her Grandfather Cruden’s farm. She graduated from Rugby High School in 1949. She entered nurse’s training at Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing, and in 1952 she graduated as a registered nurse. She worked as an RN at Doctor’s Hospital in Seattle, Wash., and did private duty nursing jobs in Denver, Colo. While working at St. Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs she met Owen Thomas Rodgers as a patient there, and they married on July 9, 1965. She worked off and on, and sometimes part-time, mostly in nursing homes. She semi-retired in 1983.
She is survived by her children, Theresa Maureen Atkins and Thomas Owen Rodgers, both of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Phillis Berg, Rugby; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
