Sep 20, 2013

Larry Morris Selvig, the son of Morris and Viola (Click) Selvig was born on November 27, 1937 in Rolette, North Dakota. He died at the age of 75 years on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby, North Dakota.

Larry was raised in the home of his parents and graduated from Rolette High School in 1955. He enlisted in the United States Army in August of 1959 and was honorably discharged in February of 1961. On January 8, 1964, he was united in marriage to Sharon Johnston at St. Cloud, Minnesota. The couple made their home, farmed and raised their children on the Selvig Family Farm near Rolette. Larry semi-retired in June 2008 and the couple moved to Rugby. He was very active with his family and community and always greeted everyone with a friendly hello, smile and always telling a joke. He enjoyed working bingo and pulling the American Legion float for area parades, bowling and a golf game when it was too wet to get into the fields. Larry enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings, the Three Stooges and The Lone Ranger with his granddaughters. He dearly loved attending his granddaughter’s school programs and sporting events . . . he was their biggest fan always cheering them on and supporting them. He also enjoyed deer hunting with his granddaughters. Larry served on many boards throughout the years, including the Rolette School Board, Farmers Union Oil Company in Rolette, the Ox Creek Church Council and was an active member of the Dethman-Armstrong American Legion Post #194, Valle Lutheran Church in Rolette, and the Rolette Country Club. He will be truly missed by everyone who knew him.

Larry is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sharon of Rugby; his sons, Danny (LaRae), and Randy (Sarah), both of Rolette; six grandchildren, Courtney, Jessica, Delaney, Aspen, Jacob and Jacie; one great-grandson, Carsyn; a sister, Sharen (Orville) Dufner of Minot; a brother, Carl (Diane) of Erhard, MN; many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Kirby; and infant brother, Malcolm; and his parents.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 15th at the Valle Lutheran Church in Rolette. Burial with military honors will be in the South Ox Creek Lutheran Cemetery, rural Rolette. Pastor Deb Stave, officiating.
