Helen Armstrong

Helen Armstrong, age 90, of Rolette, ND passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Heart of America Medical Center, Rugby, ND.

Helen Ida Marie Armstrong was born on October 3, 1922 in Rolette, ND to Henry and Bertha (Florentine) Anklam. She was raised in Rolette, attended Wolf Creek Consolidated School and graduated from Christine High School, Christine, ND, in 1940. Helen met and married Woodrow Armstrong on November 14, 1942 in Rolette. Together they raised three children, Robert, Cheryl, and Perry, and farmed at Rolette for many years. After Woodrow passed away in 1986, Helen remained on the farm and worked as a Rolette School Librarian until her retirement. She enjoyed many different kinds of needlework, being outdoors, especially in her garden, and playing cards and cooking. She spent much of her time quilting, and she loved to visit and have coffee with family and friends. Helen will be greatly missed by her family members and many friends, including her friends she had while she lived at the Haaland Home for the last five years.

Helen is survived by her children, Robert (Emily) Armstrong of Belle Plaine, MN, Cheryl (Don) Stoy of Taylorsville, CA, and Perry (Rose) Armstrong of Devils Lake; eight grandchildren, Charlotte (Loren) Stegman of New Hope, MN, Rachel (Chad) Grambsch of Columbus, WI, Paula (Eric) Arndt of Sbeboygen, WI, Chelsea LaCroix of Quincy, CA, Lark (Tony) LaCroix-Auban of Orangevale, CA, Shane Armstrong of Devils Lake, Kira (James) Glenn of Englewood, FL, Marya (Duane) Bachmeier of Devils Lake; 18 great grandchildren; and sister, Maxine Dissette of Rolette.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her granddaughter, Ruth Berglin.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Valle Lutheran Church, Rolette, ND with a visitation beginning at 11:00 AM in the church. Pastor Brenda Burns officiating. Burial will follow at Rolette City Cemetery, Rolette, ND.
