Rodney Tonnesson
Funeral services were held Monday, June 24, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church in Towner for Rodney Allen Tonnessen, 56, Denbigh, who died Wednesday, June 19 at his ranch.
Burial was in the Granville Community Cemetery.
Rodney was born September 1, 1956 in Rugby, a son of Kenneth & Mary (Lueck) Tonnesson. He was raised in the rural Denbigh home of his parents, and he attended the White Rock School until the 8th grade. He completed his education at Towner High School, graduating from there in 1974. He worked on various ranches in the area, and for the ND Highway Dept. and Bechtold Excavating. On June 9, 1978 he married Jaclyn Anfinson at the Norway Lutheran Church. They made their home in the Denbigh/Towner area.
He was a member of the ND Stockmen’s Association, the Towner Ranchers Scale Association, the Badlands Professional Bullriders Association, the American Quarter Horse Association, the American Paint Horse Association, the North Dakota Ranch Horse Association, and the Zion Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife; daughter Tasha Johnson, Towner; son, Tanner Tonnesson, Towner; two grandchildren; his father, of Towner; brothers, Scott of Kerrville, Texas; and Terry, of Towner; sister, Karen Jensen, Soldotna, Alaska; brothers-in-law, Dr. C.M. Smith, Minot; Chester Anfinson, Casper, Wyo.; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Brothers, Minot; Judy Leggett, Independence, Mo.; aunts, uncles, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Chester & Stella Anfinson; sister-in-law, Janice Smith; and his grandparents.
Wally Fretland and Pastor Linda Wimmer officiated. Music was provided by Mandy Hall, pianist, Mary Ann (Larson) Wahl, Rex Larson and Vernon Larson.
Casketbearers were John Rognlien, Larry Piatz, Shane Gunderson, Jim Hystad, Richard Berndt, Hal Kramer, Rod Hiatt, Allan Genetzky and their spouses.
