James Goodwin

Funeral services were held Friday, June 28, 2013 at Niewoehner Funeral Home in Rugby for James Manning Goodwin, 97, Rugby, who died on Monday, June 24, 2013 at his home in Rugby.

Burial was in Persilla Watts Cemetery, Rugby.

James was born May 9, 1916 on a wagon train near Luverne, a son of Lloyd and Bernice (Olson) Goodwin. He grew up in Montana and graduated from a Montana high school. He was in the US Army from 1947-51. He worked for many years as a truck driver. On December 22, 1979 he married Laura Agnes Welch in Carnation, Wash. The couple moved to Rugby in 1981. He was cared for by Betty and Karen Larson, Joan Marie Scheet and Diane Kuhnhenn for many years.

He is survived by his daughter, Anna Mae Porter, Kalispell, Mont. and a number of friends in the Rugby area.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a brother.

Rev. Brenda Burns officiated. Music was provided by Joan Marie Scheet.

Honorary pallbearers were caregivers, past and present.
