Charles Anklam
Charles Anklam, age 85, of Rolette, ND passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Heart of America Medical Center, Rugby, ND surrounded by his loving family.
Charles Frederick Anklam was born on February 9, 1928 in Rolette, ND to Charles Sr. and Lena (Lehman) Anklam. He attended Finnegan Township Country School as a young boy. In 1950, Charles moved to Opheim, Montana but was drawn back to his family farm to begin farming and ranching.
He was united in marriage to Priscilla Lamb on June 4, 1962 in Dunseith. Together they raised two children, Robert “Bert” and Laura Beth “LB”. He loved his family dearly including his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought much joy to his life. Charles lived on his family’s “Centennial Farm” his entire life and was awarded the ASCS Soil Conservation Award for Rolette County in 2002. He enjoyed farming, raising livestock, going to wedding dances, a friendly game of whist, and visiting his family members and many friends. He was an active member of Valle Lutheran Church and served on the church council. Charles was close to his neighbors and strong supporter of the Rolette Community.
If you were at an event with Charles and he had never met you before, he would always ask, “Whose kid are you?” He always got your name, where you were from, and would remember both the next time he saw you.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 51 years, his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family members, and many, many friends. Charles is survived by his wife, Priscilla Anklam of Rolette; son, Robert “Bert” Anklam of Rolette; daughter, Laura Beth “LB” (Anthony) Buchl of St. Paul, MN; daughter-in-law, Deborah Anklam of Rolette; six grandchildren, Bobbi Jo (Dustin) Church of Rolette, Krista (Corey) Wright of Hillsboro, Nikki Lee Anklam of Rolette, Noah, Selia, and Quinn Yao Buchl of St. Paul, MN; two great-grandchildren, Alyvia Hope Church and Aidyn Church, and one unborn great-grandchild expected to arrive in September of 2013 of Rolette; brother, Donald (Kathleen) Anklam of Rolette; and a sister, Orian (Tom) Harrington of Seattle, WA.
