Jerome Sattler

Jerome Francis Sattler, the son of Anton “Tony” and Mary (Zainhofsky) Sattler, was born on December 31, 1937 in Rugby, North Dakota. He died at the age of 75 years on Monday, May 27, 2013 at the Trinity Hospice in Minot, North Dakota.

Jerome was raised in Rugby and graduated from Rugby High School in 1958. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on December 3, 1958 and served in Germany until he was honorably discharged on November 18, 1960. When he returned from the Army he worked for Rugby Creamery and on July 2, 1965, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Scott in Grafton, North Dakota. To this union the couple had four children, Mike, Michele, Monica and Mitch. He moved to Minneapolis in 1968 and returned to Rugby in 1970. Jerome worked as the janitor for Rugby schools for ten years until he drove the milk truck in Rugby and surrounding areas for several years. After he was done driving the milk truck he worked evenings at the train station as depot agent for ten years. He worked other jobs including surveying for the state and driving bus for Hartley’s School Buses until he retired due to health.

Jerome is survived by, Marilyn; his children, Mike (Sheryl) of Lakeville, MN, Michele (Lon) Jorgensen of Crookston, MN, Monica (John) Harner of Rugby, and Mitch (Tammy) of Minot; grandchildren, Bryan and Kyle Sattler, Grace and Gunnar Jorgensen, McKenzie and Logan Harner, and Kylia Sattler; brothers, Roger (Betsy) of Minot, and Dennis of Billings, MT; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Rugby, Mike Pretzer, officiating. Burial will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Bismarck with military honors accorded by the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors Detail.

Friends may greet the family for one-half hour prior to the time of services at the funeral home on Thursday.
