Streifel
A mass of Christian burial was held Thursday, December 27th, 2012 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Esmond for Raymond Streifel, 87, Esmond, who died Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Trinity Medical Center in Minot.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Raymond was born on October 10, 1925 on the family farm near Buffalo Lake in Alexanter Township, rural Esmond, to Joseph and Ottilia (Wentz) Streifel. He attended the township school. On June 21, 1954 he married Mary Schan at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Minot. For a number of years they had dairy cattle and farmed. Raymond drove buses for the Esmond school for 47 years.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Harvey Eagles, and the St. Boniface Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife; children, Elaine Braaten and Janet Dosch, Minot; Patrick Streifel, Prior Lake, Minn.; Alan Streifel, West Fargo; Gerard Streifel, Phoenix, Ariz.; Darin Streifel, Barnsville, Minn.; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Donna Streifel and Helen Streifel, Devils Lake; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings Frances Scheer, Margaret Walter, Verna Stanfield, and John, Nick and Tom Streifel.
Father Brian Bachmeier officiated.
Casketbearers were Dawson, Austin, Evan, Rylee and Tyler Streifel; Ryan and Coty Dosch; Travis and Scott Braaten; and Brian Mosser. Honorary bearers were Melissa Braaten, Amelia Wegscheid, Mackenzie Streifel, and members of the St. Boniface Knights of Columbus.
