Frances

Jelsing

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Rugby for Frances Pearl Lucille Jelsing, 93, Rugby, who died Monday, July 16, at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby.

Burial was in Persilla Watts Cemetery in Rugby.

Frances was born on December 18, 1918 in Fortuna, a daughter of Peder and Clara (Lumrud) Odegaard. She attended grade school and high school in Fortuna, and futhered her education at Valley City Teachers College. She moved to Rugby, where she taught in rural schools for several years. On June 17, 1943, she married Arlan Jelsing and settled on a farm west of Rugby, where they lived for many years.

Frances was a member of the Tunbridge Lutheran Church, where she was involved in Sunday School and Luther League programs. She was Sunday School superintendent for many years, and a member of the Ladies Aid. In 1984 she joined Bethany Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school, was active in the WELCA and quilting group, and volunteered at many church events. She is survived by son, Don Jelsing, Rugby; daughter, Darlene Krogh, West Fargo; daughter-in-law, Cindy Jelsing, Rugby, and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Daryl; sisters, Ora Odegaard, Ruby Lee and Phyliss Aaberg; cousin, John Kinn, and brother-in-law Curtis Aaberg.

Pastor Dana Holter officiated. Music was provided by Dianne Montonye, organist, and Galen J. Mack, soloist.

Casketbearers were Les Aaberg, Doyle Jelsing, Terry Jelsing, Dwight Johnson, Ken Kitzman and Larry Lee.

Bernice C.

Aanderud

Funeral services were held Friday, July 20, 2012 at Viking Lutheran Church in rural Maddock for Bernice C. Aanderud, 85, Maddock, who died Monday, July 16 at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Bernice was born September, 26, 1926 at Pelican Rapids, Minn., a daughter of Bernhard and Clara (Maasjo) Rollie. She attended grade school at the Ottertail County District 59 School, and graduated from Pelican Rapids High School. She worked at Frees Cleaners in Fergus Falls, Minn., Nystul Cleaners in Fargo, and Bon Valet Cleaners in Moorhead, Minn. She married Randell Aanderud on May 27, 1961 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids. Until 1987 they farmed south of Maddock. She also worked as a waitress and cook at the Maddock Bowling Alley, and in the Maddock Memorial Hospital laundry. In the fall of 2011 she moved to the Maddock Memorial Home, and later to the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby.

Bernice was a member of the Viking Lutheran Church and its WELCA, the South Viking Homemakers Club, the Sons of Norway in Maddock, and the Theodore A. Togstad American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by sons, Dean Aanderud, Langdon; Wayne Aanderud, Maddock; five grandchildren, two great-granddaughters, brother, Richard Rollie, Pelican Rapids, Minn.; sisters Audrey Westby, Pelican Rapids, Minn.; Darlene Bylander of Coon Rapids, Minn.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, sister, LaVerne Sillerud; brothers James Rollie and Marvin Rollie.

Pastor Allen Campbell officiated. Music was provided by Joann Bergrud, organist, and Jim Gilbertson, soloist.

Casketbearers were Les Anderson, Matt Gilbertson, Tom Gilbertson, Frank Mosser, Dale Rollie, Everett Rollie, Allen Westby and Chris Westby.

Elgaen

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Stillwater Hill Community Church, Duvall, Wash., for Sharon Elgaen, 70, Carnation, Wash., formerly of Wolford, who died June 13, 2012 at home.

Burial will be in Wolford Cemetery.

Sharon was born August 27, 1941 in Rugby, a daughter of Clyde “Rusty” and Edna Showers. She married John Elgaen on April 16, 1962.

She is survived by her husband, John, Carnation, Wash.; daughters Kandi and Tina Elgaen, both of Bothell, Wash.; son, Terry, Carnation, Wash.; three grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Larson, Bothell, Wash.; Della Stevenson, Leeds; Goldy Morrow, Beulah; brothers, Edwin Yoder, Rugby, and Don Yoder, Harvey.

Gerald F.

Breuer

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the Baptist Home in Bismarck for Gerald F. Bruer, 72, Bismarck, formerly of Maddock, who died Saturday, July 14 at the Baptist Home.

Burial was in Rosehill Cemetery at Esmond.

Gerald was born February 11, 1940 in Maddock, a son of Don and Velma Breuer. He received his education at the Grafton State School, and at the Minot Vocational Workshop.

He is survived by sisters Carol Grenz, Sharon Menke and Nancy Boehm, all of Bismarck; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother-in-law, and a niece.

Pastor Clyde Zimbelman officiated the funeral service.
