Bessie Pidgeon died in Yuma, Ariz., on March 12, 2012. At her request, there will be no services.

Bessie was born on Jan. 21, 1915 to Lafayette and Verdi Putman in Egeland. She attended school in Egeland and graduated from high school there. She married Orlin Brown of Egeland in February 1933. Orlin died, and she married William Valikai of Mylo in October 1944. They moved to Yuma, where William died in 1968. She married Francis Pidgeon on Dec. 18, 1970. He died in November 2010. While living in Yuma, Bessie attended nursing school and then worked as an LPN for years at the hospital there.

She is survived by two sons, Buster Brown, Ray, and William Valikai, Yuma; a daughter, Sally Yarwood, Yuma; four step-children; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
