Everett Johnson

Everett Clayton Johnson, the son of Alrik and Minnie L. (Lunde) Johnson, was born April 21, 1920, in the rural farm home of his parents in Nanson, North Dakota.He died at the age of 91 years on Friday, January 13, 2012, at the Heart of America Care Center in Rugby, North Dakota.

Everett was raised in the home of his parents on a farm and attended school in the Wolford area.On March 21, 1942, he was united in marriage to his ‘sweetheart’ Marian Fox, whom he had known all his life, on the Fox farm home in Wolford.The couple made their home on farms in the Wolford area where he was involved in farming all of his life.In 1970, the couple moved to Prescott, Arizona, where Everett worked for Collier Family Farms and later purchased the Sunshine Laundry and Dry Cleaning, which they had for several years.They also purchased Real Estate apartments and homes that they used for rentals.He volunteered and served as a Big Brother for two young children and delivered food boxes for the poor while living in Prescott.He was a member of the Wolford Lutheran Church, served on their board, and several other boards in the community including: Pierce County ASCS, Rural Telephone Co., Rush Lake Township, Wolford School Board, just to name a few, and was a 4-H leader for over 20 years.He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 69+ years; five sons, Norval (Arlene) of Rugby, Lance (Janice) of Rugby and Minot, ND, Rodney (Carole) of Rolette, ND, Timothy (Luann) of Wolford, ND, and Kermit of Cheyenne, WY; two daughters, Sherryl Hartvikson of Mesa, AZ, and Pamela Buchanan of Prescott, AZ; 22 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; one brother, Ansell (Janice) of Rugby; two sisters, Hazel (Alfred) Juntenun of Rolla, and Anita Gunderson of Washington; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Myrna Olive Johnson; one sister, Elvera Baker; one grandson, Robb; and his parents.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 28, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., at Wolford Lutheran Church in Wolford, with burial in the Wolford Community Cemetery.

Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the time of services at the church on Saturday.

Pastor Mike Pretzer, First Lutheran Church, Rugby, will officiate. Music will be provided by Arlene Johnson and Eldon Borgen, vocalists, and Ronda Dozorec, organist.

Casketbearers will be his children, Norval, Lance, Rodney, Timothy, Kermit, Sherryl Hartvikson, and Pamela Buchanan.

Honorary Bearers will be TE “Doc” and Alice Schroeder of Prescott, Arizona, Al and Shirley Clausen of Prescott Valley, Arizona, and all Family and Friends.
