Clayton Lloyd Enga, the son of Edwin and Ina (Engebrit) Enga, was born December 14, 1933, in Rugby, North Dakota.He died at the age of 77 years on Sunday, September 11, 2011, at the Trinity Medical Center in Minot, North Dakota under the care of his family and hospice.
Clayton was raised in the rural Rugby home of his parents and received his education in a rural school near his home.Clayton farmed on his parents’ farm for several years following his father’s death in 1952.Clayton was united in marriage to Janyce Isaacson on September 23, 1961, in Rugby, North Dakota.They farmed north of Berwick until moving to Rugby in 1968.Clayton attended Auction School in Billings, Montana in 1965 and honed and practiced the auction trade in North Dakota for many years.In the late 1970s, Clayton and Janyce formed and operated C & J Auction Service and operated the business into the 1990s.Clayton also farmed northwest of Rugby for many years.From January of 1983 to June of 1991, Clayton served as a Pierce County Commissioner.Clayton was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Rugby, a past Church Council President, 4-H Leader, 4-H Council President, and had been active in the North Dakota Auctioneer Association.For the past 15 years Clayton and Janyce made their home in Minot.
Clayton was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle and will be missed sorely by his wife, children, grandchildren, friends, and family.
Survivors include his wife, Janyce; three sons, Carter of Peoria, Arizona, Darl (Lani) of Sawyer, and Troy (Brenda) of Berthold; sisters, Ione Harshberger of Minot and Joyce (Donald) Thompson of Sheridan, Wyoming; a granddaughter, Lacey Enga of Ankeny, Iowa; step-grandchildren, Alexandria Langan of New York, New York, Taylor Langan of Wahpeton, and Brandin Langan of Berthold; several nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.Clayton was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Justin; and brother-in-law, Floyd Harshberger.
Funeral services were held Friday, September 16, 2011, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Rugby, with burial in Marker Lutheran Cemetery, rural Rugby.Reverend Mike Pretzer, pastor of First Lutheran Church, Rugby, officiated. Music was provided by Dave Halvorson, vocalist, and Barb Lee, organist.
