Donald D. Jan

Memorial services were held Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, at First United Methodist Church, Jamestown, for Donald “Don” D. Jan, 72, of Jamestown, who died Sunday, Sept. 4 at his home.

Burial was in Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.

Don was born May 15, 1939, in Sioux Falls, S.D., a son of Charles and Mabel (Paulson) Jan. He graduated from New Town High School in 1957. He attended and graduated from Minot State University with a B.S. in secondary education with a major in math and a minor in science. He earned his master’s in math at the University of Idaho, Boise, in 1965. He attended postgraduate classes at the University of Kansas and Florida State. He taught math and science in Parshall and Jamestown. He married Lola Morris in Lansford in 1967. He later became the American Family agent in Jamestown, retiring in 1999.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Jamestown, the Jamestown Lions, and the Church Couples Club.

He is survived by his wife, Lola, Jamestown; son, Michael Jan, Rugby; daughter, Kathy Goeringer, Denver; twin brother, Ronald, Minot; one niece, one nephew, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Rev. Kenrad Pederson officiated.
