Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey, for Louis “Louie” Grad, 90, of Harvey, who died Tuesday, Aug. 30 in his home.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Louie was born Nov. 13, 1920, on the family farm south of Balta, a son of Joseph and Caroline (Lesmeister) Grad. He grew up there and attended rural school. He married Katherine Selensky Nov. 23, 1943, at Little Flower Catholic Church, Rugby. They moved to the Cando area in 1944, where they farmed for many years. They later moved to a farm south of Harvey. He worked for Feist Construction Co. in Drake for many years. He retired and continued to live on the farm near Harvey. They moved into Harvey Oct. 1, 2006. Katherine died Dec. 13, 2006.

He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church and the Wells Eagles Aerie, both in Harvey.

He is survived by two sons, Jim, Dickinson, and Gary, Devils Lake; three daughters, Eleanore Grad and Marlene Grad, both of Harvey, and Mary Ann Rheault, Rugby; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Theresa Schwan, Harvey, and Betty Rudnick, Anamoose.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Katherine; grandson, Kenny Grad; five brothers, Edward, Philip, Walter, Leo, and Nick; and four sisters, Lena Hager, Rose Axtman, and Caroline and Katherine in infancy.
