Kathryn Miller

Funeral services were held Monday, August 1, 2011, at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Towner for Kathryn R. Miller, 85, who died Wednesday, July 27, at the Heart of America Nursing Facility in Rugby.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Kathryn was born April 17, 1926 in Verendrye. She grew up on the family farm and received her education through eighth grade there. On June 20, 1946 she married Alfan Miller at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Karlsruhe. They ranched near Karlsruhe after living in Verendrye and Granville. They moved to Berwick in 1966, and to Towner in 1975.

Kathryn was involved in the St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church and in the Towner community. She was the queen of Towner’s 125th Celebration.

She is survived by her children Marilyn Erven, Astoria, Ore.; Rita Stigen, Towner; Ralph, Minot; Diane Lee, Westport, Wash.; Ron, McVille; Theresa Rogers, Valentine, Neb.; Kathleen VanderBusch, Dickinson; Bob, Aurora, Colo.; Janet Schmalz, Manning; Patty Miller, Bottineau; Jerome, Thornton, Colo.; LuAnn Lydamore, Piscataway, N.J.; Delores Gardner, Towner and Corrine Heilman, Karlsruhe; 30 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, brothers, John Deibert, Velva; Andrew Diebert, Minot and Martin Deibert, Towner.

She was preceded in death by her husband; 4 sisters, Elizabeth Dosch, Tillie Haberlack, Helen Burckhard and Mary Bohl; 2 brothers, Frank and Joe Deibert; her parents.

Fr. Michael Schommer was the Celebrant. Music was provided by Brooke Miller, guitarist, and Kristi Paiva and Terri Beth Dufault, vocalist.

Casketbearers were Bert Stigen, Elliot Miller, Cody VanderBusch, Jared Miller, Callen Schmalz, Kendall Schmalz, Seth Heilman, Nick Lee and Matt Miller.
