Funeral services were held Friday, July 29, 2011, at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel, Rugby, for Patrick T. Hughes, 62, of Rugby, formerly of Ohio, who died Saturday, July 23 at ManorCare Health Services in Minot.

Burial was in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

Patrick was born Jan. 16, 1949, in Toledo, Ohio, a son of Francis and Catherine (Ehni) Hughes. He was raised in the Oak Harbor, Ohio, home of his parents, and graduated from high school there. Following school, he went to work for Ford Motor Company in Sandusky, Ohio. On May 1, 1968, he was inducted into the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the Bronze Star. He was honorably discharged from active duty Feb. 23, 1970. Following his discharge, he returned to the Ford Motor Company, remaining there for 23 years until retiring. In 2005, he moved to Rugby, where he made his home until his death.

He is survived by two brothers, John “Jack”, Oak Harbor, Ohio, and Michael, Toledo, Ohio; five nieces; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James.

Deacon, Rev. Dan Musgrave officiated.

Casketbearers were Jeff Ekren, Reuel Bundy, Thomas Crook, Donald “Bo” Scheet, Keith “Twid” Hanson, Dave Paulseth, Richard Oksendahl and Wade Wiesenburger.

Military honors were accorded by The Clarence Larson American Legion Post #23 Honor and Color Guard and the North Dakota National Guard Funeral Honors Detail.
