Funeral services were held Thursday, June 23, 2011, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Selz, for Ludwig Vetter, 93, of Harvey, who died Sunday, June 19 at St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Ludwig was born April 16, 1918, near Selz, a son of Steve and Katherine (Weninger) Vetter. He grew up and attended school near Selz. He married Adeline Schwan on Oct. 29, 1940, in Orrin. They lived and farmed on the family homestead. Adeline died Sept. 24, 1970. He married Lena (Schwan) Frieson on March 30, 1973, in Minot. They moved to Harvey in November of 1974.
He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey, and a former member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Selz, where he served as a trustee. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Wells Eagles Aerie #3080, both Harvey. He served on the Pierce County Welfare Board and Hillsdale Township School Board.
He is survived by his wife, Lena, Harvey; sons, Delanis, Harvey, and Lloyd, Center City, Minn.; daughters, Betty Martin and Sharon Ell, both Minot; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three stepsons, Arnie Frieson, Sioux Falls, S.D., Larry Frieson, Walhalla, and Jeff Frieson, Bismarck.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Adeline Schwan; son, Ralph Vetter; stepson, LeRoy Frieson; brothers, Hans, Frank, and Joe; and sisters, Eva Lesmeister and Barbara Burgard.
