Pastor Daryl Arlan Jelsing, the son of Arlan and Frances (Odegaard) Jelsing was born September 14, 1948 in Rugby, North Dakota.He died unexpectedly at the age of 62 years of heart failure on Monday, June 6, 2011, at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby, North Dakota.
Daryl was raised in the home of his parents in Rugby and graduated from Rugby High School in 1966.He completed his education at North Dakota State University (NDSU) graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics in 1970.In 1977, he was united in marriage to his true love of his life, Cynthia “Cindy” Teubner in Bisbee, North Dakota.
Daryl was Pastor of Restoration Ministries from its founding in 1987 until his death, and also developed satellite churches in Phoenix, Arizona, Fessenden, Dunseith and Turtle Lake.He was recognized by the greater Rugby community for his kind, caring nature and fondness for conversation.He was well known and recognized by national and international Christian ministers and organizations as a Christian visionary.His work within the community and his church will forever be remembered.
Those who were privileged to share in his life and left to mourn his passing are his wife of 34 years, Cindy of Rugby; two children, Michael and his wife, Priscila of Hazen and Christy Jelsing and her fiance, Ron Durbin of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two granddaughters, Giovanna and Anaia Jelsing; his mother, Frances of Rugby; a brother, Don and his wife, Paula of Rugby; his sister, Darlene Krogh of Fargo; his Congregation, other relatives and a host of friends.He was preceded in death by his father.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Pastor Daryl Jelsing in care of “The Legacy Fund”, 6431 24th Avenue NE, Rugby, ND 58368 which sponsors innovative Christian Ministry.
A Legacy Service of Remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Restoration Ministries in Rugby.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the time of services at the church on Saturday. Mr. Michael Jelsing will officiate.
Casketbearers will be Jeff Miller, Dwight Johnson, Jonathan Starks, Mike Allmarus, Frank Massine, and Ben Jenkins.
