Memorial services were held Monday, May 23, 2011, at St. Paul's Cathedral, Yakima, Wash., for Joseph "Joe Ray" R. Gagnier, 76, of Yakima, who died Friday, May 13 at his home.

Joe Ray was born Nov. 16, 1934, in Bottineau, a son of Arthur and Blanche (Roberge) Gagnier. He spent 12 years at the Notre Dame Academy in Willow City. He served in the U.S. Army for four years, then moved to Fort Lewis, Wash. He worked for Memorial Hospital as an electrician for 25 years. He married Marcella "Sally" Ann Hager on April 28, 1958, in Rugby."/>

Joseph “Joe Ray” Gagnier

Memorial services were held Monday, May 23, 2011, at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Yakima, Wash., for Joseph “Joe Ray” R. Gagnier, 76, of Yakima, who died Friday, May 13 at his home.

Joe Ray was born Nov. 16, 1934, in Bottineau, a son of Arthur and Blanche (Roberge) Gagnier. He spent 12 years at the Notre Dame Academy in Willow City. He served in the U.S. Army for four years, then moved to Fort Lewis, Wash. He worked for Memorial Hospital as an electrician for 25 years. He married Marcella “Sally” Ann Hager on April 28, 1958, in Rugby. Sally died in August 2010.

He was active in the VFW, NRA, and the IBEW Union.

He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Tyrrell, Yakima; sons, Remy and Clifton, both Yakima; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; a grandchild, Jake Tyrrell; and brothers, Clifford and Ralph Gagnier.
