Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 30, 2011, at 10 a.m., at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Selz, for Marie Deck, 92, of Harvey, who died Tuesday, April 26 at St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Marie was born Jan. 4, 1919, on the family farm near Balta, a daughter of Anton and Julia (Schneider) Hoffart. She grew up and attended school near Balta. As a young woman, she worked as a nurse aid at the Rugby hospital. In her early teens, she worked in a cook car providing meals for local threshing crews. She also worked at the Artos Supper Club, Harvey, for several years. She married Paul Deck on Oct. 7, 1940. The couple started farming northwest of Selz. Paul died Dec. 27, 1984. She continued to maintain the farm with help from friends and family for 14 years. She moved into Harvey in September 1998.

She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Selz, its altar society and Christian Mothers, Selz Homemakers, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Wells Eagles Auxiliaries.

She is survived by one son, Herb, Round Rock, Texas; one daughter, Kathleen Moen, Rapid City, S.D.; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Ken and Ronald; grandsons, Dustin and Richard Deck; granddaughters, Shelly and Roxanne Deck; brothers, Vincent and Joe Hoffart; and sisters, Magdalena Hoffart and Theresa Feuerhelm.
