Memorial services were held Saturday, April 23, 2011, at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel, Rugby, for Delilah Laugsand, 76, of Rugby, who died Wednesday, April 20 at the Trinity Hospice Care Unit in Minot.
Private burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey, at a later date.
Delilah was born May 31, 1934, at home in rural Anamoose, a daughter of Albert and Johanna (Wolf) Lang. She was raised there and then in Harvey, where she received her education. Following her schooling, she did secretarial work for a local Harvey business. She then moved to Minot, where she waitressed for several years. In 1970, she moved to a farm near Bottineau. She remained there until 1989, when she purchased a tavern in Kief. She later sold that business and moved to Minot, where whe clerked at the Ben Franklin store until retiring to Rugby in 1995. She was once married to Leonard Volk and, later, to Arnold Laugsand.
She was a member of the Rugby Eagles and VFW Auxiliary.
She is survived by one daughter, Kim Vetsch, Esmond; three grandchildren; one sister, Arvilla Klecker, Albertsville, Minn.; step-children, LaVern Laugsand, Grants Pass, Ore., Marlys Laugsand, Grand Junction, Colo., Sandy Haakenson, Bottineau, and Mike Laugsand, Devils Lake; eight step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
