Johnson

Lucille Johnson, 69, Ruso, died Thursday, March 3, 2011, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Lucille was born June 12, 1941, a daughter of Ole and Lillian (Reitman) Kinn, in Garrison, N.D. She was raised on a farm south of Benedict, and graduated from Underwood High School. She furthered her education by attending Trinity School of Nursing, where she graduated in 1979.

On January 4, 1959, Lucille was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Johnson in Benedict, N.D. Following their marriage, they made their home on the Johnson family homestead southwest of Ruso, N.D. Lucille worked on the farm with Bob and held numerous jobs throughout the years, including working in Hedstrand’s Vegetable Garden, Max Grocery Store, and as a CNA at the Garrison Nursing Home. Lucille loved working as an LPN on the OB floor at Trinity Hospital. She was a very caring, compassionate nurse, a career she held for 27 years, retiring in 2006.

Lucille was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church in Benedict, where she was active as a Sunday School teacher for many years and served as secretary.

Lucille enjoyed flowers, gardening, taking photos with her camera, making photo albums, making people laugh, playing board games and cards, spending time in the yard, skiing the hills, sledding, visiting, going to auction sales with Bob, and learning about new things as she was always curious. Lucille truly loved life, and absolutely adored Bob.

Surviving relatives include her husband of 52 years, Robert, Ruso; daughters, Debbie (Randy) Knain, Rugby, N.D., Denette (Pat) Lothspeich, Bismarck, N.D., Jodi Letvin (fiance, John Grunseth), Velva, N.D.; son, Tim (Rebecca) Johnson, Hazen, N.D.; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Wendell Kinn, Marvin (Joan) Kinn, Curtis (Valerie) Kinn; sisters, Geline Johnson, Oleeta Rime, Palma Levey; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
