Henry Jorde
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Towner, for Henry O. Jorde, 93, of Towner, who died Friday, Jan. 7 at his home.
Spring burial will be in the church cemetery.
Henry was born Aug. 26, 1917, at home in Milroy Township, McHenry County, northwest of Towner, a son of Amund H. and Mina P. (Hougom) Jorde. He was raised in the rural home of his parents and received his education through the 8th grade at Mouse River School #1. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in WWII from 1942 to 1945. After his military duties, he farmed on the family farm. He married Bregetta Hager on June 3, 1946, at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Towner. They lived and farmed the family farm northwest of Towner until 1992, when they retired and moved into Towner.
He was a member of the V.F.W., American Legion, Catholic Order of Foresters, and Sons of Norway.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Dennis, James, Anthony, and Kenneth; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred Nesdahl; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Jerome.
Fr. Michael A. Schommer officiated. Music was provided by St. Cecilia’s Music Ministry.
Casketbearers were his grandsons, Benjamin Jorde, Jonathan Jorde, Christopher Jorde, Andrew Jorde, Nathan Jorde, and Joseph Jorde.
