Donald Genre

Memorial services were held Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at Zion Lutheran Church, Towner, for Donald H. Genre, 78, of Towner, who died Wednesday, Jan. 5 at his home.

Burial will be private.

Donald was born Aug. 2, 1932, in Ekalaka, Mont., a son of Horace and Grace (Hubler) Genre. He was raised in the Montana home of his parents until 1936, when they moved to a ranch north of Towner. He graduated from Towner High School. He married Marlys Aamodt in 1953, at Barton. The couple made their home on the Genre family ranch, north of Towner. He ranched for 57 years.

He is survived by his children, Valerie Siefkes, New Jersey, Mark, Towner, Paul, Texas, and Cheryl Koble, Grand Forks; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dan Genre, Carrington, and Alvin Genre, Westhope; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marlys; three brothers, Warren Lee, August, and Wayne Genre; and one sister, Annabelle Payne.

Pastor Linda Wimmer, Rev. Steven Siefkes, and Mr. Wally Fretland officiated. Music was provided by the congregation.

Honorary bearers were his grandsons.
