Gladys Lemer

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Drake, for Gladys Lemer, 88, of Drake, who died Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at St. Aloisius Care Center in Harvey.

Burial was in Drake City Cemetery.

Gladys was born Feb. 10, 1922, in Round Lake Township, McHenry County near Funston, a daughter of George and Mary (Nissen) Bromley. She grew up and attended country there. She married Frank Lemer on Nov. 29, 1944, in Drake. The couple lived in Spokane, Wash., for a short time before returning to the Drake-Anamoose area where they farmed. Following their farm auction in 1965, they moved into Drake, where she continued to live until entering St. Aloisius Care Center in July 2007. After moving into Drake, she worked for Dr. Hordinsky, the Drake Bakery, and the Morris Motel.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the David D. Nehrenberg

American Legion Post #32 Auxiliary, the Drake Senior Citizens Club, and the Harvey Eagles Club.

She is survived by four sons, Roger, Arlyn, and Carey, all of Lolo, Mont., and Joedy, Great Falls, Mont.; two daughters, Beverly Vinton, Drake, and Dell Rae Hausauer, rural Kief; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-granchildren; one sister, Josephine “Toodie” Ziebarth, Harvey; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; and four brothers, Lester, Clarence, Raymond, and Bernard.
