Funeral services were held Monday, December 6, 2010, at Little Flower Catholic Church, for Eugene N. Jundt, 77, of Rugby, who died Wednesday, December 1 at the Heart of America Nursing Facility in Rugby.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Eugene was born November 21, 1933, at home in Pierce County, a son of Anton and Eva (Miller) Jundt. He was raised in the rural Fulda home of his parents and received his education at a country school near his home. Following school, he worked on the family farm and for area farmers. He married Eva Haman on October 14, 1953, at St. Anselm’s Catholic Church, Fulda. The couple made their home in Minot where he worked for the railroad. In 1960, the family moved to Rugby and he went to work for the ND Highway Department, a position he held until retiring. Eva died Nov. 6, 1966. He married Katherine Bohl on December 24, 1968, at St. Anselm’s Catholic Church in Fulda. The couple made their home in Rugby. After retiring, he worked part-time at Hartley’s Bus Service in Rugby. Katherine died June 29, 2003.
He was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Minot Moose Lodge, and the Rugby Eagles.
He is survived by his children, Susan Kongslie, Towner, Shirley Rosencrans Ezeokoli, Minot, Sandra Tipps, Troy, Ohio, Kevin, Neilsville, Minn., Eugene, Jr., Kathy Jundt, and Nicky, all of Rugby; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond and James, both of Minot; two sisters, Rose Fettig Wiesenberger and Alice Buechler, both of Minot; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; a granddaughter, Amanda Kongslie; and one brother, Peter.
Fr. John Ejike officiated. Music was provided by Robert Graber, vocalist/cantor, and Angie Deplazes, organist.
Casketbearers were Jason Jundt, Chad Rosencrans, Jarred Faller, Anthony Wise, Andrew Kongslie, Christopher Jundt, Josh Guse, and Nicholas Ferguson.
