Howard Fedje
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, at 2:00 p.m., at Barton Lutheran Church, for Howard A. Fedje, 85, of Barton, who died Monday, Nov. 22 at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby.
Burial will be in Marker Lutheran Cemetery, Barton.
Howard was born July 29, 1925, in Minneapolis, a son of Hannah M. (Gudvangen) Fedje. He was raised by his mother in the Barton area, graduating from Barton High School in 1943. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1943, and served on the USS Killen in the South Pacific. He was honorably discharged in 1946 as a Seaman First Class. He married Elvira Fosness on Dec. 24, 1950, at Barton Lutheran Church. In the late 1940s, he began working for the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier in the Barton and Rugby areas, retiring in 1982. He also farmed in the area.
He was a member of the Fraternal order of Eagles Aerie #3834 in Rugby, and served on the Rugby School Board, the Farmers Union Oil Company Board of Directors, the Barton Lutheran Church Council, and the Barton Wildlife Club.
He is survived by his wife; son, Marshalle “Corky”, Barton; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his mother and two brothers, Jennings and Raymond.
Rev. Sharon Baker will officiate. Music will be provided by Lenore Wright, pianist, and the congregation.
Casketbearers will be Gil Beaman, Dean and Jerry Fosness, Kent and Terry Ness, Ron Olson, R’Jay Paul, Myron Roen, and Larry and Tim Young.
Military honors will be accorded by the Clarence Larson Post #23 American Legion and the Military Funeral Honors Detail Central Team.
Visitation will be held from 8-10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. There will be no reviewal at the church.
