Curtis Iverson

Memorial services were held Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010, at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Velva, for Curtis J. Iverson, 75, of Velva, who died Monday, Nov. 15 at Souris Valley Care Center in Velva.

Burial, with full military honors, was in the N.D. Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

Curtis was born Aug. 9, 1935, in Rugby, a son of Melvin and Helen (Sitter) Iverson. He grew up in the home of his parents in Towner, and graduated from high school there. On Aug. 17, 1959, he was inducted into the U.S. Marine Corps. Later, he was transferred to the U.S. Army where he served in medical administration. He was honorably discharged Oct. 27, 1962. Following the service, he worked for the railroad for ten years. Later, he worked construction in the middle southern states before returning to North Dakota. Most recently, he made his home in Minot and Velva. He entered the Souris Valley Care Center in August 2010.

He is survived by one brother, Dennis, of Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Leonard.
