Delores Johnson

Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at First Lutheran Church, Rugby, for Delores Johnson, 82, of Rugby, who died Sunday, Oct. 24 at the Heart of America Medical Center.

Burial was in Persilla Watts Cemetery, Rugby.

Delores was born April 13, 1928, in Harlow, a daughter of Thomas and Clara (Helgeson) Thompson. She grew up in the Minnewaukan and Leeds areas, graduating from Leeds High School in 1946.She married Glen N. Johnson on Sept. 21, 1947, at First Lutheran Church in Rugby. Following their marriage, the couple made their home and raised their family in Rugby.She also worked for over twenty-five years with the J.C. Penney Company in Rugby.Glen died Nov. 22, 2004.She continued to live in her Rugby home until June of 2010, when she moved to the Haaland Estates in Rugby.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church, its WELCA and the ladies’ quilting group.She was also a member of the Rugby Women’s Bowling League, the Rugby Ladies’ Golf League, and the DAV Auxiliary.

She is survived by her children, Kathy Bonn of Rugby, and Greg of Carrington; three grandchildren; five great-granchildren; one sister, Kelly Barnes of Rockford, Ill.; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her her parents; husband, Glen; six brothers, Darrold, Darwin, Lester, and Arden Thompson, and Irving and Harvey Olson; and two sisters, Evelyn Paladius and Irene Lykken.

Pastor Mike Pretzer officiated. Music was provided by Galen Mack, soloist, and Pam Anderson, organist.

Casketbearers were Kyle Johnson, Larry Johnson, Bryan Schaefer, Jason Gustafson, Randy Olson, and Carl Gilbertson.
