William Tank

Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 8, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Rugby, for William K. Tank, 81, of Knox, who died Monday, Oct. 4 at Trinity Hospital in Minot.

Burial was in Persilla Watts Cemetery, Rugby.

William was born Sept. 21, 1929, in Chicago, a son of William and Agnes (Freeman) Tank. He moved to North Dakota as an infant and grew up in the Rugby area, where he went to rural schools. He farmed with his father until entering

the U.S. Air Force in 1950. He served in the Marshall Islands and at a base in Massachusetts. He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1954. He married Doris Shea on Dec. 22, 1952, in Boston. He returned to North Dakota in 1955, and farmed in the Knox and Rugby areas until 2008, but continued to live on the farm.

He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.

He is survived his wife, Doris, Knox; children, Darla Erickson, Hayden Lake, Idaho, Roger, Rugby, Linda Lybeck, Leeds, and Brenda Bohrer, Colorado Springs, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and one sister, Darlene Tank, Lyman, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Donald and Kenneth.

Rev. Deb Stave officiated. Music was provided by Steve Mueller, soloist, and Jane Ekren, organist.

Casketbearers were Kevin Fritel, Cory Jorgenson, Doug Mundahl, Blaine Pfeifer, Dean Reiter, and Doug Tank.

Military honors were accorded by the Clarence Larson Post #23 American Legion and the Military Honors Detail.
