Tekla Hoffart
Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010, at Little Flower Catholic Church for Tekla H. Hoffart, 81, of Rugby, who died Friday, Sept. 24 at the Heart of America Nursing Facility.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Tekla was born Sept. 13, 1929, in rural Rugby, a daughter of Martin and Katherine (Schumacker) Tuchscherer. She was raised in the rural home of her parents and attended country school. She completed her high school education in Omaha, Neb. She married Michael J. Hoffart on July 11, 1949, at Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby. The couple split their time between Washington and North Dakota for a period of years before purchasing a farm in Silva. They farmed until 1978, when they moved to Georgia. They returned to Rugby in 1981 and purchased the Hideout Tavern, which they operated until retiring. She worked as a nurses aide at the Good Samaritan Hospital and owned and operated a ceramic store.
She was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church and its Confraternity of Christian Mothers.
She is survived by her husband, Mike; one son, Elias, Grassy Butte; two daughters, Michele Hoffart, Evansville, Minn., and Sheila Boyd, Mineral Bluff, Ga.; two grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Sandra; and brothers and sisters.
Fr. John Ejike officiated. Music was provided by Robert Graber, vocalist, and Glenda Mack, organist.
Casketbearers were Douglas Hoffart, John Holman, Daniel Holman, Blaine Keller, Ronald Haverstraw, and Wayne Haverstraw.
