Cora Darlene Daly

Cora Darlene Daly, 73, passed away on Sept. 8, 2010, in a Bismarck care center. Cremation has taken place.

Darlene was born July 4, 1937, in Rugby, the daughter of Leonard and Signe (Bjerke) Erickson. She attended rural school until the 7th grade, and then attended Rugby Public School, graduating in 1956. She attended Bottineau School of Forestry. On Dec. 27, 1958, she married Burton Daly from Willow City. They lived in Minot and in 1968, moved to Mandan. After helping raise their three daughters, in 1972 she was employed by Morton County Social Services in Mandan, and the Department of Human Services at the state capital in Bismarck. She always strived to make life better for others and was commended for implementing the electronic food stamp program when she was employed by the ND Dept. of Human Services. She served 25 years with the public assistance programs.

Darlene was a very loving and spiritual mother and grandmother. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and visiting with friends.

She is survived by her husband, Burton; three daughters, Linda Deraas, Duluth, Minn., Karen Daly, Bismarck, and Barbara Schulz, Mandan; grandchildren, Craig, Bradley, and Clayton Deraas, Eric and Derek Daly, and Nicole Wolfer, Brandon and Devin Schulz, and Amber (Andy) Schulz Duran; two sisters, Irene (Emil) Bickler, Escondido, Calif., and Shirley (Melvin) Atkinson, Hazen; and one brother, Loren (Marie) Erickson, Moorhead, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lillian (Frank) Fay; and brother, Charles.
