Luella Thompson
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, at First Lutheran Church, Willow City, for Luella M. Thompson, 98, of St. Cloud, Minn., formerly of Willow City, who died Monday, Sept. 6 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Willow City.
Luella was born July 27, 1912, at home near Overly, a daughter of William and Clara (Nelson) Albright. She attended country school there until the family moved closer to Willow City. She graduated from Willow City High School in 1929. She married Sherman D. Thompson on July 18, 1935, in Bottineau. The couple made their home in Fonda, where Sherman managed the grain elevators. In 1938, they moved to Edmonds. In 1946, they moved to LaMoure. They spent one year in Hecla, S.D. and, in 1948, the family moved to Britton, S.D., where she worked for Dakins Drug. Following their retirement in 1977, the couple moved to Jamestown, then to St. Cloud, Minn., in 1999. Sherman died Sept. 6, 2002.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Women, and the hospital auxiliary.
She is survived by a son, Bruce, St. Cloud; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Barry; brothers, Clifford, Vernon, and LeRoy; and sisters, Nina Drafall and Florence Stenson.
Pastor Tim Solberg officiated. Music was provided by Caren Hoiby, pianist.
Casketbearers were Dale Hill, Robert Albright, Garry Albright, Allen Johnson, Monte Brown, and Brad Atkinson.
