Eleanor Mulvihill
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, at 10:30 a.m., at Bethany Evangelical Free Church, Esmond, for Eleanor Mulvihill, 95, of Devils Lake, formerly of Esmond, who died Monday, Sept. 13 at Heartland Care Center in Devils Lake.
Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Esmond.
Eleanor was born Sept. 29, 1914, at home near Foreston, Minn., a daughter of Einar and Lena Pearson. She attended school in Foreston, and spent one year at Trinity Seminary and Bible College in Chicago. She married LuVerne Mulvihill on Oct. 28, 1939, at the Pearson family farm near Foreston. They farmed near Morris, Minn., for four-and-one-half years, then moved to Minneapolis, where LuVerne attended seminary. They lived in many states and Canada. In North Dakota, they served churches in Esmond, Devils Lake, Valley City, Cooperstown, Dickinson, and Rugby. The couple also lived in Taylorville, Ill. LuVerne died in 2007. She had resided in Devils Lake for the past three years.
She is survived by six children, Ruth Mulvihill, Bellingham, Wash., Mary Draper, Springfield, Ill, John, Hagerstown, Md., Jim, Belize, Central America, Eleanor Johnson, Billings, Mont., and Christine Gulsvig, Devils Lake; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Paul Pearson, San Jose, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Peter; a granddaughter, Therese Gulsvig; five brothers; and one sister.
Pastor John Mulvihill will officiate. Music will be provided by the Mulvihill family.
Casketbearers will be Paul Backstrom, Philip Backstrom, Wilford Brown, Roger Hill, Tom Hill, and Richard Vetter.
Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9-10:30 a.m.
