Marlys Thingvold

Memorial services were held Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, at Marker Lutheran Church at the Dale and Martha Hawk Museum, near Wolford, for Marlys Thingvold, 68, of Wolford, who died Monday, Aug. 23 at the Heart of America Medical Center.

Burial will be at a later date in Elizabeth Cemetery, Elizabeth, Colo.

Marlys was born Dec. 4, 1941, in Rugby, a daughter of Clarence and Agnes (Thorp) Stromme. She grew up in the Rugby and Willow City areas, graduating from Willow City High School in 1960. She married Gordon Thingvold on April 10, 1965, in Willow City. They farmed in South Valley Township, Rolette County, for a few years, moved to Williston for a short time, and then moved to Colorado in 1971. They returned to North Dakota in 2008, and lived near Wolford.

She is survived by her husband, Gordon, Wolford; children, Ron, Aurora, Colo., Robert, and Kimberly Thingvold, both of Rugby; two grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Walker, Ottertail, Minn., and Eunice Castle, Queen Creek, Ariz.; and a brother, David Stromme, St. Michael, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, John.

Rev. Nathan Steen officiated. Music was provided by Robert Gilje, soloist, Joy Gingerich, pianist, Arlene Johnson and Rev. Steen, song leaders, and the congregation.
