Rachel Thompson
Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010, at Wolford Lutheran Church, for Rachel Florence Thompson, 92, of Rugby, who died Tuesday, Aug. 10 at the Heart of America Nursing Facility.
Burial was in Ox Creek Lutheran Cemetery, rural Rolette.
Rachel was born, along with her twin sister Esther, Sept. 13, 1917, at home in Juniata Township, Pierce County, near Nanson, a daughter of Hans and Inga (Hanson) Braaten. She married H. Raymond Thompson May 28, 1939.
She was a member of Ox Creek Lutheran Church.
She is survived by one son, Howard Thompson, Rugby; two daughters, Irma Weaver, Spearfish, S.D., and Darlene Gilje, Exeter, Mo.; five granddaughters; nine great-grandchildren; five sisters, twin sister Esther Thompson, Lyla Grant, Helen Armstrong, Carol Anderson, and Connie Hulette; and a brother, Marvin Braaten.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one great-grandson; brother, Glenn Braaten; and Mabel Braaten.
Rev. John Hesford officiated. Music was provided by Diane Graber and Marjo Slaubaugh, vocalists, and LaNae Hartvickson, organist.
Casketbearers were Gene Braaten, Larry Selvig, David Thompson, Glenn Ulvestad, Dale Ulvestad, and Al Fletschock.
