Roger Jelsing

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 17, 2010, at the Church of St. Anne, Bismarck, for Roger Arthur Jelsing, 73, of Bismarck, who died Sunday, June 13 at his cabin on Brush Lake.

Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck.

Roger was born March 28, 1937, in Rugby, a son of Arthur and Clara (Sand) Jelsing. He grew up in Rugby and graduated from Rugby High School. He served in the N.D. National Guard for eight years. He married Lorraine Welk on May 11, 1957, in Rugby. The couple lived in Harvey for 38 years, before retiring and moving to Bismarck. He worked as a parts and service man for H.E. Everson, Genuine Parts, Bentz Implement, and Ripplinger Motors, all in Harvey.

He was a member of the Church of St. Anne, and the Harvey Eagles Club.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; four daughters, Gayle Schneibel, Rugby, Lori Hager, Bismarck, Lona Jelsing, Harvey, and Glenda Thomssen, Bismarck; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Dwight Jelsing, Rugby; and four sisters, Javonne Harward, Saratoga, Calif., Marrel Burow, Detroit Lakes, Minn., Sandra Blessum, Brownsfield, Texas, and Peggy Oksendahl, Rugby.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Gayle Jelsing.

Rev. Ed Wehner officiated.
