Olive Seehafer

Funeral services were held Friday, May 21, 2010, at Valle Lutheran Church, Rolette, for Olive Seehafer, 87, of Rolette, who died Tuesday, May 18 at the Rolette Community Care Center.

Burial was in the Rolette Cemetery.

Olive was born Sept. 10, 1922, at Rolette, a daughter of Owen and Eva (Florey) Armstrong. She attended Union School for grades 1-8, and graduated from Rolette High School in 1940. She graduated form Minot State Teachers College in 1942, and returned to Union School for her first year of teaching. She also taught in Dunseith, Rolla, and Grafton. She married Harold Tastad on June 27, 1948, at Valle Lutheran Church, Rolette. They established their farm west of Rolette. Through the years she was a homemaker, returning to teaching in 1962 at Rolette Public School, retiring in 1981. Harold died in 1985. In 1988, she married Reinhold Seehafer. He died in 1995. In July of 2009, she moved to the Rolette Community Care Center.

She was a member of Valle Lutheran Church, serving as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher and superintendent, church treasurer, and was a member of WELCA, and the quilting group.

She is survived by her son, Chuck Tastad of Rolette; two daughters, Nancy Braaten of Rice, Minn., and Wanda Hein of Lincoln, Neb.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Harold Tastad and Reinhold Seehafer; and brothers, Howard and Frank Armstrong.

Rev. John Hesford officiated. Music was provided by LaVonne Ivey, Dianne Montonye, and Jim Mongeon.

Casketbearers were David Armstrong, Rodney Armstrong, Nolan Seehafer, Pete Best, Danny Tastad, Robert Haggerty, Milt Myhre, and Roland Armstrong.
