Margaret Barton
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 15, 2010, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake, for Margaret C. Barton, 95, of Devils Lake, who died Wednesday, May 12 at Heartland Care Center.
Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Jamestown.
Margaret was born Oct. 11, 1914, in Buchanan, a daughter of Walter and Josephine (Lepsch) Dunphy. She attended country school and graduated from St. John’s Academy and the Community Business College in Jamestown. She married Maurice Barton on Aug. 16, 1941, in Jamestown. The couple moved to Devils Lake in 1949. She worked at Mercy Hospital before retiring in 1979.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Jude’s Circle, Catholic Daughters, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband; children, Mary Cichos, Rugby, Jerry, Eau Claire, Wis., Rebecca Dosch, Devils Lake, and Rosanne Zink, Carrington; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Colleen M. Barton; sisters, Mary Alice Tuhus and Dolores Leahy; and brothers, John and Martin Dunphy.
Fr. Peter Sharpe officiated. Music was provided by Lynne Webster and Sherry Kurtz, vocalists, and JoDee Lagein, organist.
Casketbearers were C.J. Dosch, Nick Zink, Jeremy Barton, Kyle Barton, Garett Dosch, and Andrew Barton.
