Lucile Anfinson

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 24, 2010, at 2:00 p.m., at Zion Lutheran Church, Towner, for Lucile Anfinson, 91, of Towner, who died Tuesday, May 18 at the Rolette Community Care Center.

Burial will be in the Mylo Community Cemetery.

Lucile was born Oct. 21, 1918, at Nanson, a daughter of Alfred Oliver and Anna Ellena (Braaten) Holmly. She was raised in the Nanson and Mylo areas of Rolette County, and attended Union Township Elementary School, graduating from Rolette High School in 1935. She attended Minot State Teachers College for one year, and graduated from the Good Samaritan School of Nursing in Rugby in 1939 as a registered nurse. She married Norval Anfinson on June 7, 1942, at Ox Creek Lutheran Church in rural Rolette. She worked as a nurse in hospitals and clinics in Rugby, Rolla, Rolette, and Crookston, Minn. Later, she worked as the supervisor of the Community Health Agency in Belcourt. She retired in 1970. The couple moved to Olympia, Wash. in 1973, and returned to Towner in 1992. Norval died June 12, 1999.

She was a former member of the Mylo and Ox Creek Lutheran Churches, and a current member of Zion Lutheran Church in Towner, its WELCA and quilters group. She also was a member of the Darners Club, Red Hat Ladies in Towner, and the Good Samaritan Hospital Nurses Alumni Association.

She is survived by her children, Carol Berg, Towner, Curtis, Mylo, Marilyn Walsh, Mylo, Randi, Devils Lake, and Ronnie, Cando; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Amy Bickler, Minot; two sisters-in-law, Aleda Holmly, Rugby, and Gen Holmly, Salem, Ore.; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and three brothers, Gordon, Lester, and Gilman.

Rev. Tim Solberg and Wally Fretland will officiate. Music will be provided by Special Delivery.

Casketbearers will be Aaron, Carl, Graeme, Jodi, and Matthew Anfinson, Jason Berg, Kris Boone, Michelle Walsh-Harpole, Amy Lovseth, Aliza Owens, Steven Walsh, and John and Krista Zimbro.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 23 from 3-9 p.m. at Niewoehner Funeral Home.
