Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Grand Forks, for Norbert C. “Bert” Daly, 92, of Grand Forks, who died Friday, April 30 at Valley Eldercare Center, Grand Forks.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Grand Forks.

Bert was born June 29, 1917, in Rugby, a son of Walter C. and Cassie (Harpster) Daly. He graduated from Knox High School. He moved to California in 1935, where he was a restaurant manager in Ocean Park. He joined the U.S. Army. He returned to Rugby, where he worked for Northern Improvement Co. In 1957, he moved to Grand Forks, where he worked at the Grand Forks Air Force Base. In 1960, he began working for the Grand Forks City Water Department, retiring in 1985. He married Mary C. Wranau on June 20, 1964, in Leetonia, Ohio. Mary died Feb. 25, 2008.

He is survived by two nieces, Bonnie Thompson and Gerlinda Skaar; a nephew, Bennie Britsch; and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife; a sister, Juanita Britsch; and a brother, Walter.

Military honors were accorded by members of the American Legion Post #157, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3817, and the North Dakota National Guard.
